It is now 4:33 in the morning. I went to bed at 12:30, slept until 2:15, dozed until 2:45, at which point the dog made a mess I had to get up to take care of. *sigh* She only does that when she's not feeling well, and can't get one of us to wake up enough to let her out. I have no idea why I didn't wake up enough to do that when she needed me to.

Anyway, since then, I've been completely unable to sleep. I don't experience insomnia often (maybe once a year?), and this is really rather annoying. I'm too tired to do anything of substance, and yet lying in bed wishing I were asleep doesn't seem to be getting me there. So I've been reading fic and finishing the latest Darkyn novel, Evermore. Can I just say, Robin is my new favorite character? No surprise, really. I've loved a lot of incarnations of Robin of Locksley over the years, but I think this one might very well be my favorite. I thought I was excited about Valentine's upcoming book, but he's just been completely trumped by the thief of Sherwood. I fell completely, utterly in love with him - and not because of his usual charming demeanor, but more for the times when he forgot to be charming, usually due to losing his temper. One of the best moments in the book was a confrontation between the villain and Robin, after the villain had spent much of the book deliberately antagonizing Rob because, well, they hate each other.

[Villain speaking]"Let this matter of guilt be decided in the old way, on the jousting field, with copper lances. Tonight."

"Yes. A fight to the death. Oh, sweet Christ, yes." Locksley gave him a beautiful, terrible smile. "I accept."

I know she's outlined his book, but man, I will be on pins and needles waiting for it to be finished and released. If I'm very lucky, sometime in 2008, please!

Speaking of, wow, a new year. A lot of not so great stuff happened for us in 2007, so I can't say I'm all that sad to see it go. It was sort of a year to match my Dream, bad century icon. Here's hoping for a better 2008.

Aaaaaaand now it's 4:55. Damn. So far, we're off to a fantabulous start. [note, sarcasm]

The last half of 2006 through the first half on 2007 was our crap year. 2007 ended on an upswing, but I'm happy to have a fresh year to mark the goodness by, so here's hoping that the trend continues for us all in 2008.
