My project for the evening, a necklace/earrings set with smoky quartz twist briolettes.  I've already listed these on byzantium_lotus, along with a picture that will give you a more accurate idea of the color of these stones.

Oh, Rhien, these are gorgeous! Now, I have kind of an odd question for you. :) In your post on b_l, you mention that the quartz is more gray than gold, but would you say it's more of a blackish-gray or a brownish-gray? Because the dress I'm wearing to my brother's wedding is dark brown (the maker calls it "espresso"), and I'm thinking the necklace would look fantastic with it if the stones are brownish-gray.

Definitely brownish-gray. And when the sun hits them, you can get flashes of that gold, like in the pictures. :)

OOOOH. *rubs hands together* Shall have to go home and make sure this type of necklace would look good with the neckline of the dress. I'm pretty sure it will since it's a scoopneck dress with spaghetti straps, but better to be safe, right?

It should look fantastic - do you know how low the scoop is? (Like, does it dip down a bit, or is it modestly high? I'm not talking cleavage, just a few inches of skin below the collarbone.) The length of the necklace 'as is' sits right at the base of the neck/collarbone area, rather like a strand of pearls. (I can also add to the closing chain to lengthen it a bit, if you prefer.)

Basically, as long as your neckline is at least a couple of inches below your collarbone, the necklace will sit perfectly. If it is right at or above the collarbone, it won't.

Oh, no, it's pretty low cut. About 4" from the collarbone, I'd say.

I don't think I'd need it lengthened, but I'll let you know.

Should be fine, then. Would you like me to reserve the necklace for you?

Egads, life got away from me for a bit there.

Okay, so, yes, necklace should look fab with the dress. Yay.

Unfortunately, the holidays and 2 upcoming snowboarding trips have me strapped for cash. I wouldn't be able to send you any money until the end of March, at the earliest. And it makes me uncomfortable to have you hold the necklace for me for that long of a length of a time. So how about this? (if you're cool with it, of course)

No formal hold, so if someone else comes along and says she wants it and can pay for it immediately, then, by all means, sell it to her. But if the necklace is still available whenever my crazy money-spending ways are over, I'll email you about it. Sound good? :)

I thought I responded to this when I read it, but evidently not? anyway, yes, that sounds good! I'll send you an e-mail in March if they're still available - and if they aren't, I could probably whip up a custom order for you, as I still have some of these stones left.

Oh, so elegant. I love it. :)
