Thank-you, goggle, for posting this disturbing link: pythons could slither North as climate warms, at the top of my gmail account today. Then I just couldn't stop myself from clicking on the stupid thing and reading it. Thankfully, Oregon was only mentioned in passing, but it was still mentioned!

Usually, spiders are my kryptonite, not huge, 20 foot long snakes. But that is largely because huge, 20 foot long snakes do not live in my area, and never have, outside people who think they make neat pets.

Those people should not release their pets into the wild, ever, let me just state that now. We wouldn't have an apparently growing population of pythons in Florida if some soul had not decided to release their pet into the wild, perhaps when it got too big to manage easily.

One of the things I really love about my home state is the lack of too many poisonous/predatory/scary bugs/arachnids/reptiles/animals. We have a very few of these things, and I like it that way. A LOT.

Now google is trying to give me nightmares. *shudders*
