I have started this post three times. All three times I was complaining about different petty crap. The weather. The rpg of doom (last night), the fact that ABC, in all its wisdom, has canceled Women's Murder Club (I know kistha - I share your outrage and bitter disappointment.)

And I deleted each of those a few sentences in, because they all just sounded like whiny complaining. I don't want to whine and complain today.

So instead, I'm just going to say - my coffee is quite excellent this morning. A little earthier than I remember huehuetenango being, but perhaps I'm getting it mixed up with Kenya AA - last roast for both of these was back to back, so it's possible.

Dinner tonight is going to be crockpot stew, which always makes me happy because 1) it's awfully yummy, and 2) it's the easiest homecooked meal. Anything in the crockpot is, really. But the idea of going home tonight and having to do nothing but some possible seasoning, and cutting the bread to go with it pleases me no end.

Other than that, I'm actually busy at work today. Between that and writing, not sure how much I'll be around.

Hmm, there must be more than one huehuetenango - I've never been to either, if so, I just drink coffee from the place in Guatemala. :-)

ah. that's where he was, Guatemala. he was too young to drink the coffee, though. (he says huehuetenango is the 'big city' compared to where he actually was, colotenango, which no longer exists - apparently several years after the school returned to santa cruz, the army razed the site to the ground. no more colotenango, very little population left.)

Oh! I heard "school" and thought "he couldn't have gone to Guatemala on a school trip, could he?"

Nope, I have never been, but that is interesting. I am horrified at the idea of an army razing a city of any size to the ground.

actually, yeah. the whole high school packed up and went to Guatemala for two weeks. GeekBoy went because his dad was one of the parent chaperones. (the school was a private 'hippie commune' school called Daybreak, in the hills outside of los gatos)

i don't remember why they destroyed the village, but yeah, it's horrifying.

My mother is so crushed about Women's Murder Club-- I had a feeling that since it basically ended without a cliffhanger that it was on the bubble, but my TV sixth sense is much better than hers.

It totally figures - the Nielsen ratings are such a freaking crock. We get a good show, a good, smartly written, procedural show with a great cast of women as the leads, it gets teetering 'ratings' during the season of the writer's strike, and ABC cancels it.

I, too, had a feeling. But I was hoping ABC would give WMC the benefit of the doubt and try another season. :(

Watching the final episode last night I was fairly sure that they had gotten canceled. (If you've watched you know what I mean.)

I am totally pissed off. BASTARDS!!

I have not watched yet, but I am extremely sad about this. That was such a good show, with so much potential.
