GJP!
Wow, haven't had one of these in awhile!

I tried an experiment last night, and as I often do when experimenting with wire and jewelry these days, I used copper. (It's much less painful to scrap, if necessary, than the astronomically expensive silver, or even worse, gold fill.) I like copper. I love the rosy-gold color of it, the warmth, the way it turns colors under a torch, and how it "ages" to an antique look. I'm highly allergic, though, so I can't actually wear it once I've made something from it.

But I LOVED how these earrings turned out. I will be making more along these lines:

This is some of that brilliantly flashy lab I picked up a few months ago. That gorgeous, peacock blue against the rosy gold swirls of the copper is absolutely stunning, and makes me very sad I can't wear them. But of all the jewelry affected by my allergies, earrings are the worst, because they get worn in the ears. I will be making a pair in silver tonight, you can be sure. I'll be listing these in my Etsy shop this morning sometime, with more pics and info, as per usual.

Those are gorgeous. And did I ever tell you that my m-i-l loved the necklace?

Oh! I don't think so - yay! I am so glad! :-D

I'm a little worried about my reaction to copper myself, but that doesn't change that those are gorgeous!

I debated hanging them from gold fill earwires, but I wanted the complete copper "look" and some people really like copper.

That doesn't mean I won't make similar earrings in silver and gold fill, though. :D

If you wanted a pair for yourself why not combine silver and copper? Use mostly copper, but wind some silver through it, and use silver for the earhooks. Just a thought. Oh, and they're gorgeous btw!

I'm about to post the earrings I made from the lab you sent me. They're pretty simple, but I think they're really pretty. I just need to do the write up for them.

Ooooh, what a good idea!

Oh, I love the earrings! You really got the lab to flash well in your pics (I always have to take twice as many photos of lab to get the flash to show, it seems). Simple, but very pretty.

Are you making your own earwires now?

I think I took a million and a half pictures, and for some reason the one stone just didn't photograph as well as the other - who knows why, since by eye they seem equally flashy. Oh well... I actually just got a new camera, and it has a setting that I love - it takes two pictures in a row, both with and without the flash. It makes a really nice comparison to look at the colour difference, etc.

I have made my own earwires, but I'm not actively doing it. I bought the ones I used for those earrings at a shop in town, and I wondered if she made them. They were a good price, so I went for it. I still don't really have anything at home to make them. I need a tumbler, and I'd like a torch. Hell, I'd like a lot of things, but I have a credit card bill that has to be dealt with first. So sad! Why can't I just be independently wealthy?

Beautiful! Love that lab!

Gorgeous. :) I have that thing with earrings too. I even find silver hurts me these days, which is sort of weird. I don't bother wearing earrings at all now - most of the holes have closed up.
