Good morning Monday!
Happy Birthday dagnylilytable! May it be a day full of joys. :-)

*waves hello* to new f-listers. Over the weekend I mutually friended a bunch of SCC minded folks. Welcome! I think most of you have probably already read it or are aware of it, but if not, I do have SCC Derek/Sarah here. And if you're really interested in my many squee-filled posts about the show in general, the SCC tag covers most of them. I tend to post quite a bit about writing and jewelry, with other things of interest peppered in between.

I had the weirdest BSG-related dream last night. (I blame kistha and our late night phone convo.) In gearing up for S4, apparently the cast was on the cover of TV guide, and I was upset and rolling my eyes because Lee's flight suit was covered in sequins. Yes, sequins. No, I don't know why. (My mind is a strange place.) Also, I was writing "missing scene" fic that had to do with...I have no idea which S3 episodes. But I distinctly remember feeling guilty about it, because first there was SCC fic, and now BSG, and the space pirates were really unhappy about the whole thing. Particularly because I spent a nice chunk of my weekend figuring out the pacing for book one and where it was going to have to end and how I am possibly going to keep this one under 100,000 words. I'm shooting for 90K.

No, seriously. I'm almost sure I can do it. But it means a lot of stuff will have to wait for book two (sorry Sebastian, and Cannon) - which is fine, I think it works better to pace it all out like this anyway. I just have to be super careful about setting things up for book two, but keeping book one self contained and complete as its own book between now and then. And also, because of how this is laying out, I now have the first three books planned, pretty much completely. Possibly even book four, once I sit down and write out the timeline of events. So the question becomes, when I'm querying agents with this one, should I pitch it as a series? Because it really, really is. Mercy's character progression arc is looooooong, and shaped by multiple major events/conflicts/storylines. So, 300,000 word book, or a series. Series works better for me, and I strongly suspect know, the publishing world in general. Hopefully someone will be interested in a SF space opera/political drama/unconventional romance thing. (*sigh* Why do I write genre-defying books?)

Speaking of which, it's off to the salt mines writing today for me. There may be a snippet later.

Oh, and I did post two jewelry related things over the weekend.

*brings out the lash*

Where there's a whip, there's a way.
Where there's a whip, there's a way.
We don't wanna go to war write today,
But the lord of the lash says nay, nay, nay!
We're gonna march type all day, all day, all day,
Cause where there's a whip, there's a way.

Where there's a whip, there's a way.
Where there's a whip, there's a way.
Where there's a whip, there's a way.
Left, right, left, right, left
Where there's a whip, there's a way.
Left, right

*giggles hysterically at the idea of Lee in a sequin-covered flight suit*

Sequin covered Lee was just WRONG - it was like bad Elvis. *shudders*

Oooh, thank you for reminding me of that fic. I had it in memories and just hadn't realized it was yours. Must read with the quickness!

And I've only started looking at your jewelry posts, you do amazing work. Your Peacock Promenade Necklace is just so beautiful I'm seriously considering making it a mother's day present this year.

Thank-you so much! My two greatest loves are writing and jewelry making. :) Oooh, and Mother's Day is coming up - I'd almost forgotten!
