Well THAT'S disturbing...
So....we live a little bit outside of town, and routinely get wildlife tromping through our yard - squirrels, deer, the occasional rabbit, legions of raccoons, etc.

But along the little track the deer like to travel, we found this recently - it looks rather disturbingly like a large cat print.  Like maybe a cougar print:

That's a quarter for size reference, and forgive my photoshop skills, but here's a second photo with the depressions sort of outlined:

Holy crap is that a big print!!! Do they have bobcats in your area? I would guess that it's a bobcat. Which is good because they aren't cougars, but I still would be worried about a bobcat wandering around... especially since i have pets.

Hmm, I don't think we have them commonly, but they aren't entirely unknown - and I did catch a glimpse of an odd, very large cat a couple of months ago, with pointed ears and a tuft around its face that looked sort of mane-like. It was unusual enough to make me wish I'd had a camera to take a picture, but too far away to see really clearly. At the time, I thought it was some strange, large species of house cat I'd never seen, perhaps. All these designer breeds we have now that are descended from wild crossed with domestics.

It was super skittish, froze when it saw me and then hurried off into the bushes. Its coat blended into the trees super well, enough that I didn't notice any spots if it had them.

That definitely sounds like a bobcat! Wikipedia has some information here: Bobcat info.
