Avatar again
So, I've been wary ever since the announcement that M. Night Shyamalan would be directing the Avatar: The Last Airbender live action movies. Firstly, they do not follow the very obvious pattern of all his previous work. Second, I have personally not been impressed with a single thing he's done since The Sixth Sense.

But then I found and watched this interview today, and I have to say, most of my fears have been laid to rest:

He sounds very much like he loves the show, the material, the characters (Zuko is his favorite! Hee!), and he's working closely with the show's writers/creators to develop the movies. This sounds like it could almost be his LOTR, which would make me very happy, indeed. July 2nd, 2010 seems very far away, but I suppose 2 years will go by in the blink of an eye.

(There isn't a word to describe the look on my face right now. M Night. Special Effects. Air Bender (which I'm only loosely familiar with). But seeing a young group of creative pros together like that...excited, giggling like school girls...it's going to be awesome!)

This should be interesting. Since I saw THE HAPPENING and was pretty disappointed, I wondered how M. Night Shyamalan would do with someone else's works/creations/adapations rather than his own material. I've never seen any Avatar stuff, but if it's got your approval, then I'm happy too ;)
