Kindle - SOLD
So.  I was recently given an Amazon gift card, in an amount that would allow me to upgrade and splurge on a Kindle 2, provided I first sell my Kindle 1.  I'm offering it on a couple of e-reader forums, and expect it to go quickly.  But it occurred to me I'd love it to go to someone I 'know' who wants one, so I'm posting the info here in case any of you may be interested.  I'm selling it to the first interested party who wants it, whichever venue:
Kindle 1 + extras

I am selling my first generation Kindle 1. I've had it since August, and taken exemplary care of it. I absolutely love it, but have finally caved after seeing the husband's Kindle 2 in action. It comes with:

original charger, cord to the computer, and case, plus-
an extra battery
flower themed cover from strangedog covers,
as well as over 100 books already loaded. (They will remain on the Kindle after I de-register it and you register it, so long as you don't manually delete them. If you delete them, they are gone forever, however.)  Sort of like borrowing books from me, but you don't have to pay the postage to mail them back.

Note to worried parties: all of these were paid for and downloaded from one source or another.  No pirated things to worry about.
Sampling of included books:
Kindle User's Guide
Mostly genre fiction - Science fiction, fantasy, romance
Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series
Several books by author Kelley Armstrong
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
Newest series books by authors Laurell K. Hamilton, Sherrylin Kenyon, J. R. Ward, Nora Roberts (and J. D. Robb), Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs
Scott Lynch's The Lies of Locke Lamora, and Red Seas Under Red Skies
And many, many more. I believe there are over 120 books on here, though that figure was achieved by adding the number of titles by the number of pages, rather than counting my library book by book.

I'm willing to sell this entire package for $250 + shipping dependent on where you live. I'm guessing within the US will be about $10, International pretty similar, but I'll check into it. I'm willing to entertain payment two different ways - either paypal from a verified address, OR a preferred method of an amazon gift certificate e-mailed to me (this way I can apply it directly to my Kindle 2 purchase rather than waiting for the funds to transfer to my bank account and having to eat paypal's fees as well.)

Comments will be screened.

I am VERY sorely tempted. I also have a friend that, if I don't choose to buy, is interested in buying it for her mother. I'm going to 'sleep on it' and let you and her know tomorrow (trying to curb my 'impulse buy' instinct).

I do have one question: when you deregister and register your new kindle, do you get all of the books that you purchased back? I'm just curious about that, in the event that I upgrade to a new model in the future. Please let me know.

Sadly, I just finished the transaction selling it to someone! But I will keep an eye out on the Kindle boards I frequent, if you like, because they go up with a fair amount of regularity.

And yes, all of your purchased books (through amazon) can be re-downloaded to your new Kindle when you upgrade. Amazon saves your library for you digitally. The ones you didn't purchase through amazon are presumably on your hard drive anyway, so you can easily reload them manually.
