Covert Affairs
I finally got around to watching the pilot ep of USA's new spy show, Covert Affairs.  While it has a long way to go to compete with Alias in my affections, what's not to like?  Spy!Girl lead goes on dangerous missions in beautiful dresses and high heels, kicking ass, and has sexy past with equally dangerous ex-spy/assassin/deep cover operative...hey, you had me at "spy".  Although, Annie has a bit more to go to match Sydney Bristow, who would not have needed the ex to save her, you know what I mean?

But I certainly liked it well enough that I've season passed it, so we'll see where this goes!
I joined the Rebel Alliance ironically: sark bulletproof kinkmorwen_peredhil on July 26th, 2010 01:13 am (UTC)
I could really love this show if only I found mysterious beach spy!boyfriend attractive, but it shows great promise. H likes it, too, which is good.

Yes, the actor they got to play him generally plays, well, 'soft' characters. I'm having issues seeing him as intense or hard enough for the spy!boyfriend to be what I find attractive in these shows/roles, but I'm willing to give him a chance until I see a bit more of the character.

I found the acting in the pilot episode to be particularly horrendous, but you're right about all the girl spy kicking ass bit. So, I subscribed to it on Hulu. But yay spies!

It's definitely not Alias, but then - what is?

It's a fun, summer show. I can't see myself (or anyoone, really) getting obsessive and fannish, but it's entertaining.

Covert Affairs, i've never even thought about comparing it to alias, because alias is an brilliance that no one could rival :) but c.a. if fun, and cia spying :)
